Home Trends for 2021

 

The new year always brings the promise of change and no year has been more anticipated than 2021.  Let's just say this up front - WE ARE SO DONE WITH THIS PANDEMIC!  Unfortunately, the pandemic isn't quite done with us. I know the vaccine will be widely available before the end of the year, but why wait for the unknown to make plans?  We will spend more time at home in 2021, so why not make it comfortable?

There are some home improvement/decorating trends that are shifting slightly for 2021.  We are moving away from farmhouse decor with barn doors and all white kitchens.  We still like open concept, but recognize the need to have definable spaces for work and school.  Cozy comfort is what we need, without too much fussiness or clutter.  Enter Cottage Chic (or Granny Chic, Shabby Chic, Modern Cottage).  Here's Rachel's Lookbook take on country cottage chic:

Watch for the muted pastels, in orchid, frosty green and blue, and don't forget the earth tones for babies - earthy coral, shale green and chalky purple/blue with neutrals.  I love this calming, comforting vibe for 2021!  If you would like to incorporate this look into your existing decor without making major investments in painting, furniture and flooring, check out textiles to bring those soft patterns and homey feel to your kitchen, bath and living areas.

Whatever you decide to do in 2021, be intentional about it.  Make a plan. Set realistic goals and go after it!
